Fernando Mitre

I'm Mexican (Saltillo, Coahuila). I studied Digital Systems and Robotics Engineering at Tec de Monterrey, a degree that sits between electronics and low-level software, and that's where I found my passion for building software.

Software took me to Monterrey, Querétaro, Tijuana, San Diego and Silicon Valley, where I've spent the last six years at Meta, most of that time in product-focused teams, making the WhatsApp Business App more useful to businesses.

Throughout my career I've worked on different types of business software, learning to build a better product with each experience.

I also like starting things of my own. I co-owned a restaurant-bar in Saltillo and co-founded a non-profit where I tried to improve citizen participation with mobile technology.

WhatsApp Business subscriptions

I work on the Meta Verified and Meta One subscriptions, which give businesses extra features in the WhatsApp Business App. My work spans the whole stack: the subscription infrastructure itself, plus some of the benefits, including the custom web page and the metering behind benefits that have a quota or limit.

  • Part of a product-focused team working across the stack, focused on backend and iOS.
  • Worked across the entire software development lifecycle, leading experiments with cross-functional partners to drive data-based product launches.
  • Led the metering infrastructure needed to enforce benefits that have quotas or limits.
  • Integrated benefits into the full subscription lifecycle, including grace periods, plan changes and cancellations.
  • Led multiple projects that required leading cross-functional teams and coordinating across organizations, including financial engineering and other Meta orgs.

Business Broadcast in the WhatsApp Business App
